Information

Founded on the belief that design should both reflect and question its moment, Present Standards is the independent practice of James Wrigley, centred on visual communication and critical discourse. Working across print, digital spaces, and tools for the web, the studio shapes work that balances clarity with considered meaning, informed by methods and perspectives drawn from different creative disciplines. Alongside commissioned work, the studio develops larger projects that move beyond traditional briefs, including editorial platforms, publications, and digital tools. Each is built with the same attention to craft, structure, and purpose, and informed by an ongoing commitment to experimentation and design research. Present Standards works within the shifting conditions of contemporary design, engaging with new technologies, formats, and ideas. The focus is on producing work that speaks to the present, responsive to its context, aware of its possibilities, and built to hold meaning beyond the moment.
